Before setting a date for your festival/event, research other events being held. Make sure that you avoid clashing with major public events. You should check annual calendars, regional websites, local organisations, newspapers, other media and wider public events.
You will also need to consider the lead-in (planning) time, anticipated attendance numbers, the availability of the venue, time needed for permissions and licences, booking dates for entertainers, artists, other activities and suppliers, as well as coordinating with your ongoing daily business functions.
Consider the duration of the event carefully to benefit other local businesses, accommodation and attraction providers and suppliers.
The availability of your chosen venue may determine the date of your festival/event (1.7). Check thoroughly to identify the best available dates to choose within the TIMELINE Chart.
