The weather can be a determining factor in an event's success/failure. Getting correct information prior to the event will allow you to implement contingency plans where necessary.

Whilst you cannot change the weather, you can organise around the weather by getting information in advance.

The Met Office provides a more detailed local forecast via a premium rate phoneline. Further details at: www.met-office.gov.uk/services/wxcall/index.html

Contingency Planning

Consider:

  • an alternative venue if it rains, eg. village hall
  • duck boards to cover puddles/mud
  • wellington boots /umbrella hire
  • prior information to visitors eg. change of venue
  • car parking - tractors to tow stuck vehicles

Key Points:

  • Remember that in Wales, you must factor the weather into your planning
  • Get as much prior information as possible
